Born January 17th, 1931, in Linz, Austria, Gerhard Andlinger first traveled to the United States in 1948 as a winner of a New York Herald Tribune essay contest for Austrian high school students. A year and a half later, at the age of 19, Mr. Andlinger left post-war Austria again, this time with a scholarship to Princeton University and advanced placement as a junior.

Mr. Andlinger graduated from Princeton University in 1952 with a degree in economics and a minor in Arabic. He continued his academic career at Harvard Business School and was awarded an M.B.A. in 1954.

After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Andlinger went on to become a noted executive, holding several senior posts throughout a remarkable career. He has received an honorary doctorate from Bryant College in Rhode Island for contributions to international management.

In 1976, Mr. Andlinger formed his own private investment firm, Andlinger & Company, Inc., where he remains Chairman today.
